Court documents: Assemblyman Kolb blamed wife, women drivers following DWI accident

Kolb (R, C, I, Ref-Canandaigua) was reportedly driving his state-owned vehicle at the time of the accident.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Former New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, who was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated last month, allegedly had a blood-alcohol level twice the state's legal limit.

That's according to NBC-affiliate WHEC, who obtained court documents.

Kolb (R, C, I, Ref-Canandaigua) was reportedly driving his state-owned vehicle at the time of the accident.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says on New Year's Eve, Kolb was caught driving drunk, after crashing into a ditch outside his home in the Town of Victor.

The court documents say Kolb told a tow truck driver, "My wife was driving! You know how women drive."

Kolb represents the 131st Assembly district, which is southeast of Rochester. He is the longest-tenured lawmaker in Albany, having been in the assembly for 20 years.  He stepped down as Minority Leader of the NYS Assembly following his arrest.

His next court date is January 9 in the Town of Victor.
