City, campus police investigate armed robbery near Buffalo State

Two students were robbed on Rees Street, near the Asarese-Matters Community Center, at about 9:50 p.m. by a suspect wearing a black ski mask and black coat.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police and Buffalo State University Police are both investigating an armed robbery Friday night near the campus.

According to a University Police statement, two students were robbed on Rees Street, near the Asarese-Matters Community Center, at about 9:50 p.m. by a suspect wearing a black ski mask and black coat.

The suspect, who approached the students from behind, showed a large black handgun. The suspect took their cell phones and other property before taking off on foot toward Grant Street.

No further description of the suspect was given to 2 on Your Side by police. The victims were not harmed.

Buffalo Police are investigating and will have an increased presence in the area throughout the weekend, according to University Police.
