Chautauqua County man charged in two home invasions

Mark Sarama, 31, of Mayville is charged with Kidnapping, Burglary, Robbery, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Grand Larceny of a Firearm and Resisting Arrest.

FILLMORE, N.Y. — A man from Chautauqua County is facing several charges, including kidnapping, following two home invasions in Allegany County.

Mark Sarama, 31, of Mayville is charged with Kidnapping, Burglary, Robbery, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Grand Larceny of a Firearm  and Resisting Arrest.

Trooper say they were called to a residence on Emerald Street in the Village of Fillmore around 3:30am January 22 for a report of an unwanted male at the residence. When Troopers arrived on scene, they confronted Sarama outside the home near the victim's vehicle.

Troopers say Sarama had taken the victim from the home at gunpoint to get more money from an ATM machine.

Troopers had to physically take him into custody.  Investigators say Sarama overdosed on drugs he had previously taken while he was being taken into custody, and was taken to Jones Memorial Hospital.

During their investigation, Troopers learned Sarama allegeldy went to another home on Emerald Avenue earlier and struck a 90-year-old victim with a handgun, knocking him unconscious.  Sarama is accused of stealing a flat screen TV and cash from that home.

The 90-year-old victim was able to contact police and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers say the gun was stolen from a home on Emerald Avenue that Sarama was staying at.

Sarama was arraigned in court and was sent to the Allegany County Jail on $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
