Hamburg teen charged with making threat toward Canisius University

Buffalo Police say a post was made on Snapchat Thursday with a caption that was allegedly threatening.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A student at Canisius University is facing charges after allegedly making a threat towards the school. 

Buffalo Police say a post was made on Snapchat Thursday with a caption that was allegedly threatening. The post was sent to the Buffalo Police Department and their Threat Management Unit began an investigation. 

Detectives were able to identify a suspect, who is identified as Wyatt Losi, 18, of Hamburg. Losi is charged with Marking a Terroristic Threat, which is a felony. 

2 On Your Side has reached out to Canisius University, which issued a statement on Friday evening. 

"Canisius University is aware of the recent incident involving a student who has been arrested and charged for making a threat online against the institution. The university’s Public Safety team is engaging with local law enforcement in the investigation. The safety and security of our students and the campus community are top priorities," the school said.
