Burglary suspect leads City of Tonawanda Police on foot chase

A suspect in a stolen credit card burglary from July 7th, led police on a foot chase Saturday.

CITY OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. - A burglary suspect led police on a foot chase Saturday.

According to police, Charles Prebis, 29, of Tonawanda, escaped through the back door of his house as soon as detectives arrived to question him about an alleged credit card burglary from July 7.

Police say Prebis ran through yards and jumped over fences trying to escape. Authorities eventually found him hiding in the bushes in a backyard on Ellicott Creek Road.

Prebis was charged with criminal possession of a stolen credit card, fourth degree grand larceny, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration.

Police said Prebis also had three outstanding warrants out of Cheektowaga and Orchard Park for criminal contempt.
