BUFFALO, N.Y. — Another Buffalo business was forced to temporarily close because of vandalism.
A popular local breakfast spot, Sophia's Restaurant, was closed Thursday following a break-in.
"Due to break in and vandalism we will be closed today," Sophia's posted to social media. "Hopefully back open tomorrow. Stay safe everyone!"
The break-in happened just a few months after the restaurant moved into its new location on Military Road.
2 On Your Side reached out to Buffalo Police. A police spokesperson responded, saying that the break-in happened around 2 a.m. Thursday and that the suspect entered the restaurant by breaking a window.
The suspect damaged computers and liquor bottles, then fled with an undisclosed amount of liquor. The suspect was wearing a burgundy coat, blue pants, and black shoes or boots with a bright yellow stripe.
Anyone with information is asked to call or text the Confidential TIPCALL Line at 716-847-2255.
Sophia's posted on its Facebook page that it was open again on Friday.
Just last month, the Nine-Eleven Tavern shut down for a couple days. The South Buffalo staple said on social media that the building was broken into, and that the tavern needed more time to replace what was taken.
A City of Buffalo spokesperson said a cash register at the Nine-Eleven Tavern was stolen and that it has since been recovered.
