Buffalo murder suspect found in South Carolina

The victim, identified as Michael Fronczak, 66, of Buffalo, died from blunt force trauma, according to the Erie County Medical Examiner.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police say they have arrested a person in connection with a homicide in Buffalo's Riverside neighborhood.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Aug. 17. Officers were called to do a welfare check on Henrietta Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they found an unresponsive man that looked like he had been beaten. He was declared dead at the scene. 

The victim, identified as Michael Fronczak, 66, of Buffalo, died from blunt force trauma, according to the Erie County Medical Examiner. 

Through their investigation, detectives say they were able to identify a suspect and eventually track him to Greenville County, South Carolina. Police obtained a warrant and arrested the man, James Dietz, 56 of Buffalo.

Dietz is charged with one count of Murder in the Second Degree. He is currently being held in a South Carolina jail pending his extradition back to Buffalo.
