Buffalo Police investigate fatal stabbing on west side

According to police, 53-year-old Jose Eiras Oviedo has been charged with murder in the second degree after allegedly stabbing 57-year-old Alina Vega-Lantoron.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — According to the Buffalo Police Department, a man has been charged for a fatal stabbing, which happened on August 15.

53-year-old Jose Eiras Oviedo has been charged with murder in the second degree after allegedly stabbing 57-year-old Alina Vega-Lantoron. The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. inside their residence on 15th Street.

When police arrived, Vega-Lantoron was found dead and Oviedo was injured. Police say Oviedo had also been stabbed, and was taken to the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC).

Oviedo is currently being held without bail, and will be back in court on Thursday for a felony hearing. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.
