Buffalo Police investigate fatal shooting on E. Utica Street

Buffalo Police say two people were shot inside of the home.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Tuesday morning just off Main Street. Officers were called to a home on East Utica Street near the Utica Metro Bus & Rail Station just after 8:30 a.m.

A spokesperson said Buffalo Police investigators believe a car drove to the home, shot into it from the street, and then drove off, hitting both men in the process.

They referred to the shooting as "targeted in nature" although they did not list a motive.

Buffalo Police later said one victim was pronounced dead at the home and a second victim, a 24-year-old male from Buffalo was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he later died.

Anyone with information is being asked to call or text the Buffalo Police Confidential TIPCALL Line at 716-847-2255.

The incident did not affect Tuesday morning's service at the neighboring metro station.

A Buffalo Public Schools spokesperson confirmed with 2 On Your Side that both daVinci High School and Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts immediately initiated a lockout because of the proximity of the shooting to the school.

Both resumed normal class schedules shortly after Buffalo Police deemed the area was safe.
