BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo mother who allegedly stabbed her 6-year-old child was arraigned in Buffalo City Court on Friday.
Zakiyyah Wolfford, 33, has been charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Wolfford allegedly stabbed her child multiple times, then stabbed herself inside their residence on Purdy Street on the city's East Side. The child was treated at Oishei Children's Hospital for injuries to his hand and shoulder, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Following the incident Wolfford was taken to ECMC to be evaluated. She is currently being held without bail and faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison if convicted.
Wolfford is scheduled to return to court on November 1 at 9:30 a.m to go over the results of a forensic evaluation.
