Buffalo Police: Man shot, killed following an altercation

The victim was shot in the chest and later died at Erie County Medical Center.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon, following an altercation with an unidentified suspect.

The shooting happened shortly past 1 p.m. Thursday. That's when Buffalo Police officers responded to the scene on the 100 block of Brinkman Avenue, near Walden and Bailey.

The victim was shot in the chest.

"The victim attempted to leave the scene by bicycle, eventually collapsing on Sumner Street," police said in a statement.

That person was taken by emergency responders to Erie County Medical Center, where they were declared dead.
