Buffalo man sentenced after shooting driver in the head at a stop light

The victim was sitting inside of his vehicle that was stopped at a red light when he was shot and killed.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A 45-year-old Buffalo man has been sentenced Wednesday after shooting and killing a driver who was stopped at a red light.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced that Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi sentenced Mujihad Miller, 45, of Buffalo on Wednesday to 23 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

On Sunday, September 16, 2022, at 2:14 p.m., Miller shot 30-year-old, John "Rico" Walker Jr., of Buffalo who was inside a vehicle that was stopped at a red light at the intersection of William Street and Hickory Street.

The victim was unconscious when taken to ECMC by ambulance with a gunshot to his head. He died in the hospital a few days later.

Miller pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter in the First Degree on November 16, 2023.
