BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man was sentenced Friday for stealing construction materials from an apartment project in Buffalo according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
Acting DA Michael J. Keane said that 38-year-old, Sergio J. Brooks, purposefully went into a building on Best Street in the City of Buffalo back in February of 2023 to steal items from the site.
Buffalo Police were alerted by a security system and found Brooks who tried to run but was eventually caught.
According to the DA's Office, he was found with pipes, circuit breakers, valves, copper, and other materials in two bags at the site located on Best Street near Michigan Avenue, where Pilgrim Village is located.
In July, Brooks was found guilty by a jury of one count of burglary in the third degree, and one count of grand larceny in the fourth degree.
He received an indeterminate sentence of two to six years in prison from State Supreme Court Judge William Boller.
