BUFFALO, N.Y. — A jury has found a Buffalo man guilty of killing his girlfriend inside her apartment.

Savon R. Stewart, 30, of Buffalo was found guilty of one count of Murder in the Second Degree after the jury deliberated for 40 minutes following the six-day trial.

Police were called to an apartment complex on Main Street between Kenmore Avenue and Niagara Falls Boulevard on August 7, 2023 following a 911 call. When officers arrived on scene, they found Jena MacDiarmid Beal, 21, dead inside her apartment. Investigators say Steward beat and stabbed her to death.

Stewart faces up to 25 years to life in prison once he's sentenced in December. He currently remains held without bail.
