BUFFALO, NY-- The alleged getaway driver in the fatal shooting at the Anchor Bar is now facing federal charges on an unrelated crime.
Gregory Ramos was arrested last month on Grand Island following a police chase that started in Niagara Falls.
The U. S. Attorney's office says the 24-year-old threw cocaine out of his vehicle during the chase.
They say they know that because it ended up hitting the windshield of the police car following him. A toll collector found the bag of cocaine in the same lane Ramos allegedly drove through.
Ramos is charged with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm. The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of five years behind bars if convicted.
