Buffalo man charged with assault in connection to August altercation

Prosecutors allege that 24-year-old Avery Hunter got into an argument and punched 59-year-old Michael Zuch on Grove Place last August.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A man from Buffalo has been charged with assault after attacking a man who later died in Tonawanda.

Prosecutors allege that 24-year-old Avery Hunter got into an argument and punched 59-year-old Michael Zuch on Grove Place last August.

Zuch died three months later in November, but the Erie County Medical Examiner's office ruled his death was caused by an underlying medical condition.

Hunter faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of the assault.

He remains free on bail.
