BUFFALO, N.Y. — A stolen car was secured on Thursday with the help of Air 1, the Erie County Sheriff's helicopter, according to the Buffalo Police.
Around 8 p.m. Thursday, a Kia Forte was driving westbound on Northland Avenue when detectives saw it. Using the Air 1, they said they were able to trace the car back to Rex Place.
There, Brayjon McNeil, a 20-year-old from Buffalo, took off on foot. He was caught on the 600 block of Humboldt Parkway, police say. They added that McNeil had previously been arrested in 2023 twice for stolen vehicles.
When the car was recovered, they shared that damage was found on a door handle, the ignition, and there were scratches on the passenger side exterior.
On the path that McNeil fled, there were also tools recovered that the Buffalo Police say are common in car thefts.
The charges from Thursday are not qualifying offenses for bail. A search of the New York State electric court filing system on Friday showed that McNeil appeared in court on Friday.
