Arrest made in connection to burglary and assault on city's West Side

A 12-year-old made the 911 call, saying that her mother was being assaulted at an address on the 400 block of Normal Avenue, on the city's West Side.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — An arrest has been made in connection to a burglary and assault that happened Thursday night in the City of Buffalo.

A violent domestic call was received by Buffalo Police around 10 p.m. Thursday. A 12-year-old made the phone call, saying that her mother was being assaulted at an address on the 400 block of Normal Avenue, on the city's West Side.

"Officers responded to the scene and heard screaming inside," a police statement said.

Police officers breached the locked door and found a woman on the floor. She said the man left through a broken window. He had physically and sexually assaulted her, took her phone, then left, the woman told police.

Police later arrested Adan Mohamed, 35, of Rochester. He was wanted for a warrant related to a separate incident back in Rochester, police said.

Mohamed has been charged with one felony court of burglary, one felony count of strangulation, one felony count of grand larceny, one felony count of criminal possession of stolen property, one felony count of criminal mischief, one misdemeanor count of assault, and one count of harassment.

An investigation into sexual assault allegations is ongoing, police said.

A search of the New York State electric court filing system on Friday afternoon shows that Mohamed has a defense attorney and that he appeared in Buffalo City Court on Friday morning.
