ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Construction on the new Buffalo Bills stadium was temporarily suspended Tuesday after crews found something that they say could have been perceived as a "symbol of hate."
Gilbane | Turner, the company selected to build the news stadium, told 2 On Your Side that work came to a stop after the symbol was discovered. The organization said police were called and determined the symbol was not one of hate.
Gilbane | Turner officials did not explain exactly what was found at the site but released a statement saying, in part, "We do not tolerate any act of bias or hate."
Orchard Park Police also released a statement about the perceived symbol.
"An internal investigation was completed by Gilbane | Turner, and it has been clearly identified that no criminal act occurred, the perceived symbol was not placed in a malicious manner, and there was no intent to create or display a symbol of hate," police said in a statement.
