21-year-old man stuck and killed on Niagara Street; victim identified

Investigators say that the accident happened on Niagara Street near Fargo Avenue just before 1 a.m.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash that happened early Wednesday morning. 

Investigators say that the accident happened on Niagara Street near Fargo Avenue just before 1 a.m. 

A white Dodge Durango was reported to have been traveling down Niagara Street and allegedly hit a victim before it ran into a parked car. Police reported that a 21-year-old male — identified Thursday as 21-year-old Allen Ruiz — was dead at the scene. The driver allegedly fled the scene on foot, according to police.  

2 On Your Side also was at the scene as police were taping off the area for the investigation. 

The Durango is now in police custody and an individual has been questioned in connection with the accident. The identity of Ruiz was released by police on Thursday.
