BPD detective and another man facing charges involving stolen data, identity theft

Investigators have been looking at Genesis Market, an illicit online marketplace that is known for compiling stolen data.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The United States Attorney's Office Western District of New York announced Tuesday that two men were charged on separate complaints of possessing 15 or more unauthorized access devices.  

According to the release, Terrance Michael Ciszek, AKA DrMonster, 33, and Corey Robert Dodge, AKA Cakesbaylor, 41, appeared in court for the charges that carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Investigators have been looking at Genesis Market, an illicit online marketplace that is known for compiling stolen data.

Investigators allege Ciszek, a former Buffalo Police Detective, purchased nearly 200 stolen account credentials on the dark web market-place. They also say he had a bit-coin wallet with stolen credit card data. 

The Buffalo Police Department is conducting an internal investigation. He has been suspended with pay by the police department.

The complaint Dodge alleged he purchased 14 packages on Genesis Market, which included approximately 8,500 stolen account credentials. 

Dodge and Ciszek were released on conditions.
