MURRAY, N.Y. — A body was found floating in the Erie Canal on Sunday in Orleans County.
The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office said it became aware of the body when it received a report at 12:37 p.m. Sunday, in the area of Bennetts Corners Road in the Town of Murray.
Sheriff’s deputies located the body east of the Bennetts Corners Road Bridge.
"The body was removed from the canal and transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death," the Orleans County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
The death is not considered to be suspicious, the sheriff's office said.
