Attica inmate sentenced for assault on civilian employee

Emmanuel Jenkins, 38, was sentenced on four charges Wednesday.

WARSAW, N.Y. — A Wyoming County man will serve at least 15 years in prison for crimes committed against a civilian employee at the Attica Correctional Facility.

Emmanuel Jenkins, 38, was sentenced on four charges Wednesday:

  • 15 years in prison, followed by 20 years post-release supervision for Attempted Rape in the First Degree
  • 15 years in prison, followed by 20 years post-release supervision for Robbery in the First Degree
  • 5 years in prison, followed by 5 years post-release supervision for Assault in the Second Degree
  • 2-4 years in prison for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree

Jenkins was found guilty in a bench trial on June 4, 2024 for committing a crime against a civilian employee at the Attica Correctional Facility. At the time of the incident, Jenkins was already serving 15 years to life on three counts of Predatory Sexual Assault, two counts Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree and three counts of Rape in the First Degree. 

After the verdict, Acting District Attorney Vincent A. Hemming said, "Given the facts of this case, and defendant’s criminal history as a serial rapist, he should never be allowed out of prison.”

All sentences will be served concurrently. but will be consecutive to his current sentence for previous charges.
