2 arrests made after welfare check in Niagara County

When deputies arrived at the Town of Wilson home, they found multiple dead animals inside and outside.

WILSON, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office responded to a a home in "deplorable condition" during a welfare check Thursday.

When deputies arrived at the Randall Road home in the Town of Wilson, they found multiple dead animals inside and outside. Deputies also found animal feces and trash inside the home. 

Dead goats, pigs, cows, and chickens were found outside the home. Two dead turtles were found inside.

Pigs, cows, chicken, and geese were also living outside the home. Living inside the home were five dogs, two cats, shrimp, rats, snakes, and crabs.

The Niagara SPCA and child protective services were called in. Two children were placed in the care of other family members, and the SPCA confiscated nearly a dozen animals because the conditions were so bad.

The town building inspector condemned the home. No word yet on any additional charges. 

"The Town of Wilson Building Inspector was called to the scene and the house was condemned. Personnel from the Niagara County SPCA responded for all of the animals," the Niagara County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The Niagara SPCA is now taking care of the animals and are conducting an investigation.

Niagara County Child Protective Services was called in, and the two young children are now in the care of family members.

Robert W. Wilcox, 23, and Alexandrea M. Mann, 20, both of Wilson, both face two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. They were released on appearance tickets.
