HAMBURG, N.Y. — An Angola man who admitted to driving recklessly when he caused a deadly crash has been sentenced to spend the next three to nine years behind bars.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office said Anthony Rydzewski, now 41, was speeding through Hamburg at Route 5 and Lakeview Road on Feb. 28 when he crashed into 37-year-old Jenny Zuhlke. She was declared dead at the scene. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center to be treated.
Rydzewski was later found by U.S. Marshals at a correctional facility in Crawford County in Pennsylvania, where he was being held on unrelated charges. He was turned over to Hamburg Police in April.
He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and will also have to pay a $5,000 fine.
