AMHERST, N.Y. — An Amherst man pleaded guilty to killing his own mother.
Om D. Samant, 36, of Amherst pleaded guilty to one felony count of first-degree manslaughter on Wednesday in State Supreme Court.
Samant admitted to beating and stabbing his mother inside of their Thistle Lea home back on Dec. 26, 2022, prosecutors said. Jagruti Samant, 58, died at the scene following the domestic disturbance call.
"The defendant killed his mother by beating and stabbing her inside of their shared home," prosecutors said Thursday in a statement., announcing the plea.
Samant faces up to 25 years in prison when he's sentenced on Dec. 17. He's being held without bail.
