BUFFALO, N.Y. — A 48-year-old Buffalo felon has been convicted again for multiple charges and was sentenced to prison.

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced on Friday that Ivan Morales, 48, of Buffalo was convicted of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and being a felon in possession of firearms.

The beginning of the case was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Louis A. Testani and Casey Chalbeck, who stated that on Oct. 13, 2022, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Morales’ Ideal Street residence.

The search led to them taking suspected marijuana, a digital scale, and approximately $2,546. They also searched an apartment on Shanley Street in connection to the investigation and took approximately 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, 12 clear bags containing cocaine, suspected MDMA pills, eight firearms, numerous magazines and ammunition, drugs, and 250 $100 bills, totaling up to $25,000.

Morales was convicted of felonies in state and federal court in 1998, 2004, 2006, and 2020. He is legally prohibited from possessing firearms.

U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra. Jr. sentenced Morales to serve 120 months in prison.

Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Scarpino and the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia all helped contribute in the sentencing results of the investigation.
