BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two people were shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the City of Buffalo, where a SWAT unit was called to scene on the city's East Side.
Police identified both victims as male, but did not specify their ages.
Buffalo Police officers were called to the 100 block of Zenner Street shortly past 12:30 p.m. Saturday. A SWAT unit was called in, and people were urged to avoid the area at the time.
The shooting happened a day after a Buffalo man was shot and killed on Friday night, prompting an investigation. That one happened shortly before 9 p.m. Friday on the first block of Young Street, south of Broadway, where Buffalo Police found a 31-year-old man. He was shot multiple times and declared dead at the scene.
"Crazy! This is crazy," neighbor Crystal Torlakovic said.
Torlakovic is a neighbor next to the raided home.
"It's so scary to me because it's just me and my mom just staying here," Torlakovic said.
She isn't sure what happened. She says one minute she was at the store and then her mom called, asking when she would be home. That's when she found out what was going on across the street.
"It's not a bad neighborhood. The East Side has always been a little sketchy here and there, but it's never been like this," Torlakovic said.
Onlookers from surrounding blocks came to the scene. Also on standby was Murray Holman, executive director of the Stop the Violence Coalition.
"Things like this used to happen on the regular but it has been a little bit calmer," Murray said. "We come out here and make sure the community is aware of what's going on, and try to help out families, and try to curve the violence down."
