2 men arrested following weekend shooting in South Buffalo

An investigation led to a third arrest, after a woman who was interviewed by police was found to be in possession of roughly 6 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two Buffalo men have been arrested in connection to a shooting that happened last weekend in the city.

Buffalo Police on Thursday said Kwanza Battle, II, 25, and Kwanza Battle, 49, are charged with one felony count of attempted murder, one felony count of criminal possession of a weapon, and one felony count of reckless endangerment.

The charges stem from a shooting that happened around 9:15 p.m. Saturday, at South Park and West Woodside avenues. That's where South district officers responded to a shooting call. They found a scene, but no victims.

It was later determined that the person who was shot, a 31-year-old Buffalo man, arrived in a private vehicle at Mercy Hospital. He was later taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center.

Battle and Battle II were arrested on Wednesday, police said.

An investigation led to a third arrest, after a woman who was interviewed by police was found to be in possession of roughly 6 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Amani Buster, 22, of Buffalo now faces two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
