Buffalo teen charged after school threats made on social media

BPD announced on Thursday an arrest was made after school threats found on social media

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Police Department announced an arrest was made on Wednesday after a school threat was made on social media. The BPD also found an illegal weapon. 

The FBI's Buffalo office and the New York State Troopers were notified that a TikTok user allegedly made a school threat. It was not shared what school the threat was directed at. The FBI and NYS Troopers notified the Buffalo Police Threat Management Unit to begin an investigation. 

Their investigation tracked the threat to a Mariner Homes apartment, where investigators obtained a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order (TERPO) to search the apartment. Buffalo Police said a Glock 19 was recovered. 

A 15-year-old male from Buffalo was charged with one count of making a threat of mass harm.   His name is not being released due to his age. 

Yaireliz Santana Garcia, 33, of Buffalo was charged with one count of criminal procession of a firearm.
