Rolling through the snow during the Buffalo Snow Roll

The Snow Roll gets ready to ride reminding participants there's no bad weather just bad gear.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Slow Roll Buffalo is befriending the snow and winter, bringing back the winter "Snow Roll" rides for the 30th year.

The gatherings have been expanded for the winter rides, rolling one Saturday each month from December until February.

The first roll is scheduled for December 9.  It begins at noon at The Pub at 2113 South Park Ave. and takes off at 12:30 p.m.

The January 6 Snow Roll will meet at the Downtown Bazaar at  617 Main St, Buffalo, and February 3 meets at Mister Sizzles at 346 Connecticut St. in Buffalo.

Slow Roll Buffalo Board President Janelle Brooks says these rides are a way for the community to stay connected through the winter.

"Many come just for the party, and for the hardy who roll, remember that there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear," Brooks said.

Brooks also clarified in a release that the usual 10 mile routes will be drawn up in a way that allows anyone to enjoy from three, seven or even 10 miles, whatever their speed.

"Even those just dipping their toe into winter riding can give a short shot," Brooks said.

The Snow Roll is free and welcomes all bike riders whether you're a beginner, pro or somewhere in between.
