commUNITY Spotlight: Little Big Town

The Grammy Award-winning group is coming to the Queen City as part of their “Take Me Home” tour.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Grammy Award-winning country music group is coming to Buffalo and will be celebrating a major milestone.

Little Big Town is coming to the Queen City as part of their “Take Me Home” tour and will be celebrating their 25th anniversary. The group will be performing on Nov. 2 at the Key Bank Center at 7 p.m. The tour is named after their hit song with another country music duo, Sugarland, who will be joining them on tour.

“18, 19 shows and we got our old buddies Sugarland back together and they're coming out on the road with us and this is the biggest production that we've ever done," said singer Karen Fairchild.

Little Big Town’s Phillip Sweet said the partnership between the two music groups is exciting.

“I think we're just all excited about feeling good together and bringing people together in a joyful way,” he said.

Vocalist Kimberly Schlapman agrees. She said music brings people together from all walks of life.

“Music is the commonality that brings us all together. It doesn't matter what side of politics you're on, it doesn't matter what your upbringing is, or where you stand in the world. Music is a common denominator, and it heals us and brings us together, and especially Christmas music,” she said.

The group will be in Buffalo just in time for the holiday season. They dropped their Christmas album titled “The Christmas Record” this year. They say seasons like Christmas remind people to come together.

“We're big fans of the season. We love Christmas. I think we all have that in common. Those nostalgic feelings about the season,” Jimi Westbrook said.

Schlapman added, “We hope just that, that it warms people up and gives people a reason to celebrate and come together and love on each other right now.”

Sugarland is not the only collaboration Little Big Town has been performing. They recently teamed up with other popular country artists in their greatest hits album which was also released this year.

“With the greatest hits record we just put out it got some beautiful collaborations with Kelsea Ballerini on a song called ‘Shut Up Train,’ which was one of her favorite songs which we found out, so she sang on that with us,” Sweet said. “Also we had Miranda Lambert join us on ‘Little White Church,’ and it's so fun," said Sweet.
