BUFFALO, N.Y. — Dance Spectrum in Depew celebrates 45 years of service and capped off the season with a recital at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo.
There were two showcases, one for children and one for adults. Performers range from age two to 65.
Dance Spectrum Owner Patty Neal said it was a joy to see all the performances.
“They're living their best life on stage.”
Neal said the recital is a celebration of the focus, determination, and teamwork of the dancers.
“My favorite thing about this event is watching the joy in the kids' faces,” she said. “Watch the big kids helping the little kids and it's really pretty miraculous.”
Performer Katheryn McDonald agrees.
“We're all just like one big happy family,” she said. “We do this every year. It's something we look forward to when we put lots of hard work into it.”
Dance Spectrum was founded in 1979 by former nurse Patty Neal. She started Dance Spectrum in a small studio on Depew’s main street. Since then, they have moved twice and currently reside in a bigger studio on Transit Rd. It took a few small changes like expanding into the next-door hair salon in 1998 and opening a dance retail shop on location.
Now they have various programs for kids and adults of all ages.
