BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Bills are issuing cards to season ticket holders this season rather than traditional paper tickets.
The card is used for admission to all home games, and will also give holders a discount at the Bills Store.
Season ticket holders will still be able to print individual game tickets at home, through an online account manager, and then transfer the tickets to family or friends, or sell them.
Marc Honan, the Chief Marketing Officer for the Bills, said the team has considered making the change for a few years now. Thanks to stadium renovations, the organization finally has the ability to implement the card system for 2014.
"It's been implemented in pretty much every major sport," Honan said. "One of the things they've found is, it's a little bit more convenient for fans, and, best of all, it's really been able to reduce fraud."
The Kansas City Chiefs already use a similar system, and the New York Jets announced this week they'll also begin to use it. The Washington Capitals (NHL), Washington Wizards (NBA), the Tampa Bay Lightning (NHL) and the Chicago Fire (MLS) also use a card for season ticket holders.
