Bottled Water Recall For Some Wegmans Products

Bottled Water Recall For Some Wegmans Products
Wegmans 12 Packs of Bottled Water May Be Affected by Recall

BUFFALO, NY - If you buy and like to drink bottled water, be aware that several brands including some sold by Wegmans are being pulled from the shelves because of potential contamination with E-coli bacteria.

This voluntary recall recall is from the Niagara Bottling LLC firm which is actually based in California and it affects water which was bottled at plants in Penna earlier this month. But it turns out some of the product may have been sold here in Western New York under the Wegmans Food Markets brand label and other brand names like Acadia. Some may also have been sold as 7-11 and PriceRite brands which also have stores operating in this area.

The problem is one of its sources for the spring water in Penna. could be contaminated with the E-Coli bacteria which can sicken people with intestinal infections.

Wegmans spokeswoman Jo Natale says only a specific product line, the Wegmans "FYFGA - Foods You Feel Good About" Bottled Spring Water sold in 12 bottle packs would be affected in New York State. They would carry a specific stamped Niagara Bottling LLC listing on the label and the best by dates 10 June16 through 18 June16.

The affected bottles would also carry codes on the bottle label of "F" or "A" for the two bottling plant locations in Penna. again with the best by dates listed.

Wegmans says customers can return this particular product for a full refund or contact their consumer affairs division for more details. PriceRite/ShopRite stores have a similar refund policy.

The other types and sizes of bottled water packed by other suppliers and sold by Wegmans and PriceRite are not involved in this recall.

Niagara Bottling did send out a press release "We have not received any complaints of injury or illness of any kind. As the spring source did not notify us in a timely manner, we have discontinued use this source. Out of caution and in the interest of public safety, Niagara Bottling LLC is issuing a voluntary recall."
