BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation announced the architectural firm that will be handling the restoration of the Buffalo Central Terminal.
CJS Architects, which has offices in Buffalo and Rochester, will lead the $5 million restoration project. Jim Hycner, chair of the CTRC, said in a press statement that the goal was to extend the event season of the Central Terminal and turn it into a year-round destination for locals and visitors.
"This project not only will allow us to bring in more events for the East Side, but we think it will be a catalyst for the eventual redevelopment of the Central Terminal," he said.
Structural improvement like adding heating and bathrooms are at the center of the terminal restoration plans. The CTRC also plans to make historical renovations to the restaurant space.
CJS Architects has previously worked on the restoration of the Graycliff Conservancy and a historic mill complex for the National Women's Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, N.Y.
Robert E. Stark, a partner at the architectural firm said in a statement:
"CJS Architects is honored to be assisting the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation to begin major renovations at one of our city’s major landmarks."
A timeline on the renovations has yet to be announced.
