WEST SENECA, N.Y. — Dozens of job seekers visited the West Seneca Community Center for a career and wellness fair on Saturday.
The town's Chamber of Commerce brought in several local businesses who are looking to hire residents. Guest speakers and wellness vendors also attended the event, which took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Joe Kirchmyer, the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce director, talked with 2 On Your Side about why events such as this one are important.
"People are asking all the time," Kirchmyer said. "You know, we deal with businesses large and small and organizations as well, and you never know what their need is going to be through the year.
"So, no particular one reason to have it today, but just trying to help our members as best we can, especially those that are looking to find some part time, and full time employees."
The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce said it hopes to make this an annual event.
"This is a unique opportunity for many local businesses and organizations to get together to showcase their offerings under one roof," Kirchmyer said in advance of Saturday's event. "More importantly, it will give visitors an opportunity to receive information and gain a better understanding of businesses right here in their own backyard."
