WILLARD, Ohio — A northern Ohio farm has expanded its voluntary recall to include additional produce sold in the state amid concerns of possible listeria contamination.
Wiers Farm Inc. in Willard, Ohio issued a recall for some of its whole and bagged salad cucumbers last week after the potential contamination was discovered by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development through routine sampling.
Listeria is a bacterium that can cause fevers, muscle aches and gastrointestinal issues.
The Ohio Department of Agriculture now says more produce was affected, including green beans, bell peppers and other vegetables. Those products were packed between July 5 to July 12.
Other states affected by the recall include Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
The FDA said there have been no reported illnesses or complaints.
