Matt Granite is as cheap as they come. He's made it his mission to live as close to a five-star life on a one-star budget, sharing exclusive daily deals and savings tips with Western New York.
Matt walked in the doors of WGRZ in early 2009 as a producer for Daybreak and his life has been better since. Before joining the team of Red Coats, Matt wore a very heavy winter coat as the morning show producer/reporter for Valley News Live, another NBC Affiliate covering parts of Minnesota and North Dakota. Working mornings makes Matt nocturnal and he has not experienced daylight in 7 years.
The Money-Man is an import, originally from Toronto and grew up with a love for the Buffalo-Niagara region, its people and stores. There are few WNY restaurants Matt has not been to, who's also a lover of all things Winter.
Matt is tied to Jacqui, his high-school sweetheart of 12 years. He also has an un-trainable, but extremely good-looking Wheaten Terrier.
Matt has a Master's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University and while in grad school he worked as a D.C. Correspondent for WCAX-TV in Vermont.
