West Coast solar producer readies for another Western New York project

Borrego is working with the Genesee County Economic Development Center on a series of payment-in-lieu-of-taxes incentives.

GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. — Borrego Solar Systems Inc., the same San Diego firm that is developing a large solar farm in Cattaraugus County, is now considering doing the same with five projects proposed for various Genesee County sites.

Borrego Solar said it will be investing more than $21.6 million on the five rural sites that could collectively produce 22 megawatts of energy for residential and commercial customers.

Borrego is working with the Genesee County Economic Development Center on a series of payment-in-lieu-of-taxes incentives; the company would generate slightly more than $2 million combined in tax revenues for five municipalities where the farms are proposed.
