BUFFALO, N.Y. — Despite increased claims tied to pent-up demand for delayed treatments and Covid-19 care, Univera Healthcare’s parent ended 2021 in the black, reporting net income of $117.6 million on revenue of $6.6 billion.
Excellus Health, the Rochester-based company for Univera in Western New York, said it spent $5.9 billion on medical benefits last year covering 1.5 million members across Upstate.
That’s compared to 2020, when the company had net income of $97.2 million on premium revenue of $6.2 billion. Year over year, the company reported its spending for medical benefits increased by 12% or $635 million. You can read the full story on Buffalo Business First's website.
