UAW workers in Tonawanda, Lockport to vote on contract this week

Workers at the Lockport plant are set to vote on Wednesday.

TONAWANDA, N.Y. — UAW workers at the Tonawanda GM plant are voting Monday November, 13 on the proposed contract with the automaker.

General Motors and the United Auto Workers union reached a tentative contract agreement last month, as well as agreements with Ford and Jeep maker Stellantis.

While the union has approved the tentative agreement, workers still have to vote to approve the deal.

Last week, a chapter in Flint, Michigan voted against the deal with 52-percent of the votes going against it.

Workers at the GM plant in Lockport are set to vote on Wednesday November, 15.

Ford workers at the Hamburg plant overwhelmingly voted in favor of their own deal last week.

Those deals will last four years and eight months and include 25% general pay raises and cost of living adjustments. Combined they bring the wage increase to over 30% over the four-year and eight-month life of the contract.
