BUFFALO, N.Y. — For the first time ever in New York State, people can place their Super Bowl bets at casinos.
New York casinos began offering sports betting last summer once the State Gaming Commission finalized its rules following a 2018 Supreme Court decision to lift the federal ban on sports betting.
This has all three Seneca Nation-owned casinos in Western New York preparing for a busy Super Bowl Sunday.
"We're staffing accordingly to the volume we're expecting to see," says Gavin Mercado from the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino.
Each location Western New York has a sports lounge where you can place bets at a self-service kiosk or at a ticket window.
Even though mobile sports betting is still illegal, you can still use your phone to place your bets. There's a QR code at all of the Seneca casinos that you can scan and build your bet. You will need to go to the casino in person where they will scan and place your bet.
