Perry's Ice Cream completes expansion

The expansion helped create 15 new jobs and 370 positions will be retained.

AKRON, N.Y. — Perry's Ice Cream announced they have completed their expansion of a 20,000 square-foot facility in Akron.

The  $18 million project called for a new building adjacent to its current manufacturing facility and allows the company to increase production. 

In addition to the new building, they also purchased new state-of-the-art machinery and equipment to meet the growing demand for frozen Greek yogurt products.

"This investment and associated expansion begins another chapter in Perry’s long NY history. The new, state-of-the-art equipment expands our manufacturing capabilities and ensures that we continue to adapt and grow to meet customer and consumer needs with innovative and exciting products. We appreciate the support from Empire State Development and are thrilled to contribute to the economic health of our region," Robert Denning, the president and CEO of Perry’s Ice Cream, said in a statement.

Perry's, which was founded in 1918, uses local dairy farmers to provide nearly all of the milk used in production of their ice cream products.

“Congratulations to Perry’s Ice Cream on completing a project that will help ensure a steady supply of sweet treats for all its customers. The expansion is a win for the region; adding jobs, a new line to produce more ice cream products, and supporting the local dairy farmers who supply the milk to the factory," said Hope Knight, Empire State Development president, CEO, and commissioner, said in a statement.
