BUFFALO, N.Y. — Elected officials cut the ribbon on a new affordable senior housing development in the City of Buffalo on Monday. The nearly $12 million project created 37 new apartments on Linwood Avenue near Lafayette.
The apartments are for people 55 years old or older, including seven units set aside for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
People Inc. played a huge role in the project and leaders there say they're just happy to be part of the neighborhood.
"We're just happy to be part of this historic neighborhood," said Rhonda Fredrick, the president and CEO of People, Inc. "It just... it's a great place to be. The amenities are great. The public transportation. And you could see from the program in there, we had a lot of help. But in the end, we're proud to be here."
If you're interested in living at the new facility you'd better act fast. People Inc. said there's only one two-bedroom apartment still available as of Monday.
