TONAWANDA, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Labor's rapid response team is offering help to those impacted by the Sumitomo closure.
In a post made to the Town of Tonawanda's X page (formerly Twitter) they wrote, "𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨 𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 - The New York State Department of Labor Rapid Response Team is offering employment orientation on Friday, Nov. 22. Register now"
The rapid response orientation will provide those with personalized job placement services, resume development, interview preparation, information on how to file unemployment insurance, and more.

Sumitomo Rubber USA, which manufactures tires, announced Thursday, November 7 that it is closing its Tonawanda facility.
Sumitomo makes automotive tires for passenger cars, trucks, buses and motorcycles. Production at the Tonawanda facility has since been halted.
The closure will impact 1,200 hourly and 350 salaried employees.
