Buffalo Billion money to boost Lovejoy and Kaisertown businesses

City and local leaders were on Clinton Street on Thursday to announce the nearly $1 million coming to those neighborhoods from the Buffalo Billion funds.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo's Lovejoy and Kaisertown neighborhoods are getting some state money for revitalizing their business districts.

City and local leaders were on Clinton Street on Thursday to announce the nearly $1 million coming to those neighborhoods from the Buffalo Billion funds.

Business owners there will apply for grants from that money.

One of the owners who just moved his business from Allentown spoke about the difference it could make.

"When we look at Kaisertown, we see great potential with the infrastructure, wonderful neighbors, and endless opportunities," said Sean Wrafter, the co-owner of Acme Cabinets. "Our business has thrived and continues to grow here, and I know that if we can do it, others can do it as well.

"So I say to all future and current business owners in Western New York: there are new opportunities in every part of Buffalo, and neighborhoods like Kaisertown and Lovejoy can provide you with the opportunity to create your own opportunity."

Applications should open up in the next month.

That money will be used to help business owners invest in their buildings and improve facades in the hopes of bringing in more businesses.
