New simulated racing lounge now open for business

Send It Sim Racing has 10 full-motion, triple-screen simulators at its Amherst location.

AMHERST, N.Y. — A Western New York business is offering the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a virtual race car.

Send It Sim Racing in Amherst held a sold-out, four-hour event on Sunday afternoon, where teams took part in a endurance racing event. The business says it's the only simulated racing lounge in Western New York.

Send It Sim Racing has 10 full-motion, triple-screen simulators. The owner, Jesse Brannen, said those simulators are on par with what professionals use.

"So an endurance race, in real life, is six to 12 to 24 hours, so we simulate that here," Brannen said. "I don't want to run a 24-hour race here, so this one is four hours. We have teams or two or three drivers, and we have the gas tank limited to 70 percent, so it forces the car to be pitted every 40 minutes, and we do a driver swap at that point."

Sunday's event cost $120 per team for a maximum of three drivers. Member sessions start at $35, and the price is $45 for people who are not members.
