Developer Douglas Jemal top bidder at auction for Mahoney Building

The Mahoney Building was built in 1930 and houses a number of state offices, including the comptroller’s Western New York operations.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The October 7 auction of the Walter J. Mahoney State Office Building has attracted a lot of interest.

One of those bidders was developer Douglas Jemal.  Jim Fink, a reporter at Buffalo Business First, reported that Jemal was the top bidder, with a bid of $4.1 million for the building.

Ten development parties had registered for the auction of the downtown Buffalo landmark at 65 Court St. They were a mix of local, regional and national investors.

All bidders had to register by Oct. 1, though the New York State Office of General Services, which is conducting the auction, reserves the right to approve additional bidders.
