NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — DeGraff Memorial Hospital is preparing for more changes in the new year, but officials insist there are no plans for closure.

The response from Kaleida Health, the hospital’s parent, follows a story published Oct. 9 in the Tonawanda Sun citing unnamed sources who said hospital employees were notified the hospital would close all services other than the emergency room and the skilled nursing facility by year’s end, affecting approximately 50 employees.

While it's true 55 jobs will be affected when the hospital moves several programs out of the site and eliminates inpatient stays, those moves come in response to how the community has been using the facility, said Michael Hughes, Kaleida chief of staff.
